What a great guide! Thanks very much, and I think the idea of a free open source DVD-A authoring app is a very important one! I hope they continue to add more and more features that DW chrome has.

I contacted the main DVDA-Author developer to get an update. Version 9.09 works fine under Linux but the corresponding Windows GUI version is not yet ready. I'm really looking forward to it.

Yeah fabrice is a fantastic guy, as are the other contributors to the project! I just hope the Windows GUI gets better and better - it's the key to widespread use of the program and eventual replacement of discwelder chrome.

Finally, I've managed to create a surround DVD-A and even using the default SPEC settings it sounds astonishingly good with individual instruments coming from the rear speakers. Now to mastering SPEC...

The only thing I found which maybe differs from the published method is that I unchecked 'Enable multiformat input' and the options for VIDEO_TS and the DVD-Video zone.

Yet another question:
Is there a media player which can handle non-MLP AOB? It would be useful to be able to prove the AOBs before I burn them to disk. VLC gives the impression that it can play AOB but outputs only silence. Considering that VLC and Winamp can play the multi-channel WAVs, surely all that's required is a codec which can remove the AOB wrapper?

VLC 1.1.0 (only available from nightly builds currently) has support for AOB and indeed they do play albeit really badly - they are very distorted. Will investigate further.

i did few DVD-As.i don't have the player but one friend have and i was always boring this friend for tests. searching any easy to play for tests before burn i 'discover' SHAPlay that can handle audio-ts folder or ISOs with wav and/or MLP.
SHAPlay is free and can be found in Doom9, avsforum or can host for you as have very short size.
