i have 3 dvd players: 2x Philco DV-P3000 and 1 tronics DVD-595.
all players have spam multicahnnels outputs(RCA)
testing DVD-Video(Nero DVD+RW) with one music 5.1 16/48KHz LPCM authored in DVDLab Pro palying with Philco via coaxial to receiver decoder Sony. (16b 88.2K and 96K not tested, maybe later)
works but the decoder show in front panel PCM 48 (L, R and LFE).
all channels are summeds in Left channel, reminders are in silence in decoder but i have secure infos that using spam outputs works perfectly...i will test later as the cables are in complete mess behind one big table and is needed to move all with computer, players, receiver, amplifiers...lots of things...gee..my wife will kill me
about dither:
have one big thread in S.Hoffman forum about that. i posted there changing infos with Barry Diament(cool person) and he send me round 26 samples using differents dither tools.
my answer was: 'i hear 'sss' in all samples.
...i prefer 'no hear' truncation than hear hisses(sss) Barry, no way.
using short samples, tones and all know ways i don't use dither and never could find any truncation hearing or watching waveforms using extreme zoom.'
the conclusion: dither is the necessary evil but i don't use in wave editors, now after yours comments i will test in Plogue.(if don't 'sss', is ok for me)
if you're interested to read i post the link in S.Hoffman forum. (too big lecture)
thanks Zeerround for 'bitter'.
thank you all for great comments.
