Plogue has another version roughly every three months, which starts another free trial period, but sometimes there is a month or so when you can't use it while waiting for a new version.
Check here:
http://www.plogue.com/bidule/latest/to see if there is a newer version than what you have now. You want the 32 bit standalone version, even if you have windows 64 bit OS. Install that, then you also need the "Standalone discrete processing test version". Place that (unziped) in the same folder as the Plogue exe.
There exists a command line version of SPEC, that doesn't need Plogue, however I have not released it because it lacks the shareware mechanism at this time. Target spam for that will be less than $30, although I'll have to pay some money for included libraries.
Lack of donations for SPEC is holding me back.
