[Topic Moved from "Plug-Ins, Filters" to "Music Sources and Releases" by SBU Admin] (Note: Though not a CC Music Source, and not Surround Material, This seemed like the more appropriate category) it's not any plugin/filter or program but very nice for distractions: True audiophile radio web stream: 1411kb/s! This is the highest quality internet radio stream I've yet come across from college station KEXP: mms://media-wm.cac.washington.edu/KEXP-Uncompressed It's broadcast at 1411kb/s so the same as CD! very nice sound(from pc to receiver via RCA), no buffer problems, no saturations, no 'pops and clicks' in WMP 6.4.09.1129 (as i don't use this player i never update)....works in VLC or winamp but VLS give me buffer problems, with old WMP 6.4.09.1129 run perfectly! *comments posted in another forum*(I wonder if these audiophile streams will become more common in the future as bandwidth gets cheaper and broadband speeds increase? Or will the music industry step in and halt them? it's an easy way of copying CD-quality audio for free...) cheers! |

I have been enjoying pandora (the free internet music service, not the band) the last few days while at work. While the quality is not super fantastic at the volume I play it at the office it's OK. Made my think about how to stream it through plogue in realtime (yes, I know, we always want a lossless source - so call it a thought experiment). Of course I could do it with two computers, or two soundcards on one computer, but wondered it there was anyway to do it in software (one one system). I see there is a VST wrapper for foobar now. While that would allow streaming conversion of stereo to surround in a poplular player, it doesn't let me play pandora through a VST (unless somebody knows of a pandora plugin for foobar). |
