OK, Just to recap here. These are DTSwav files that have been converted to flac that I want to convert back so I can burn onto a CD to play back through my DTS surround system.

Foobar did not work, Flac frontend did not work, Roxio did not work (all of these converted & burned well, but only 2 channels).

Is the dts really lost when a wav is converted to Flac?

If so then why convert these type of files to flac if one will loose the multi channel mix?

I will try Daemon tools next.

OK. I see you got a bit further.....
Normally with Flac or Ape you do not lose the "contents" of the Wav, so the DTS information did not get lost.
My proposal to have a closer look at a sample still stands

I think someone posted earlier up the thread that windoze will report dts wav files as 2 channels, and perhaps other programs would as well, but when you burn them to a CD they will playback in surround.

DTS "encodes" the 5.1 channels down into 2 channel wave files. I also posted that if you get a burning program (like nero) that can burn flacs then you can skip the convert to wav step.

This page: has links to burning programs that support flac. I see references at the imgburn site to supporting flac but it doesn't work for me.

Sorry that I haven't responded but I have been busy last couple of days.

I have come to the realization that these flac files that I have must not have the multi-channels in them. I have used foobar to look at other files & yes the VU shows all the multi channels.

I have Roxio which can burn flac to wav on a CD and these flac files (without any conversion) remained as 2 channels.

I did learn allot though. I now know how to check for the "other" channels with foobar that I did not know before & I really like the audio muxer program as well.

Did you ever find a solution to convert FLAC DTS surround files to WAV surround files?? I have a new WDTV box and have been going nuts listening to surround sound, but some of the files I find that have been encoded in FLAC, I cannot extract DTS surround information. When played back the files are only stereo. I've been looking on line and it seems like a dead-end. Help?
