Is it possible to recover (extract) the original DTS (or AC3) file from a .wav file that was created using the 'Convert AC3/DTS to SPDIF Wav/Flac' function?

If so, could this option be added to future versions of Audiomuxer?

No time for the moment, but give me a couple of days to investigate it further. For a 'spdif'-ed DTS file, I can see at the hex level the original stream but in a reversed byte order and with some spdif-markers. So I think there is way to get it back. Did not yet check AC3. But give me some time ;)

Hi All,

I am trying to use Audiomuxer to batch convert files to 24/48 DTS WAV format, then convert to FLAC to stream with my Squeezebox. This is the best quality it can pass through to my amp.

I can do the DTS encoding manually in Surcode DVD-DTS and specify the output as DTS WAV instead of DTS or CPT, but when I use Audiomuxer to do the encoding it always defaults to the .dts format output file, which I cannot convert to flac for use with my Sqeezebox.

Any way to specify the .wav output when using the DTS conversion process in Audiomuxer?

In Audio Conversion when you hit the DTSWav button (not the DTS button) then it should work --> DTS encapsulated in a Wav container.

Thanks Pl4yitLOUD, however I've found that will only output 24/44.1 dts wavs, not 24/48.

I did find that the SPDIFer function will turn the 24/48 .dts files into working FLACs, but I'm concerned about the "non-standard" format of these, and whether or not they'll work in future hardware/software configurations. Also, it's another step, whereas if Audiomuxer could call on Surcode to output dts wavs instead of dts files during the conversion it would save the extra step of SPDIFer and would also not create non-standard files.

I have no idea if this is possible, as Audiomuxer may not have any control over how Surcode defaults to it's output settings, but if that were an option it would suit my purpose perfectly.

Thanks in advance!

DTSWav only supports 44.1kHz. If you need 48kHz then a SPDIF'ed DTS/AC3 file is a valid option. Should it not be maintained any more (I doubt that), then you can still extract the original DTS/AC3 stream to do something else with it. So I would not worry about it too much.
