In order to be able to openly shared converted music for the purposes of providing feedback, sharing, bragging rights, etc., we have created a section for announcing and providing links to member conversions covered by “fair use” and Creative Commons licensing.

It is important that, before announcing a conversion utilizing a CC licensed source, that you be sure that your conversion is, in fact, covered by that license. The essence of CC licensing is that the license-holder decides the limits and reach of how their material can be used, and this means that what applies to one source may not apply to the other.
The following links will go more in-depth as to the different levels of Creative Commons licensing:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creative_commons

http://wiki.creativecommons.org/Main_Page

The SBU team is a strong proponent of Creative Commons licensing, with all home-grown surround methods covered under a Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 License. As such, we will always do our best to support the rights of the artists making their work available under such a license and will remove any conversions for which a violation of the license occurs, whether the artist has contacted us or not. We ask that, if posting any conversions utilizing such a source, that you provide a link to the actual license as proof that your use of the source does not violate the existing license. The onus is on the poster, and any announcements found not to provide such proof will be immediately deleted by the SBU Admin. This also applies to source material in which the limits of the Creative Commons license changes over time.

Here is a link to give you a running start on finding Creative Commons licensed music. Please note that much of what you will find on the net are mp3 sources, which will not give you as good a result in surround as a lossless source.

We hope this will become an active and popular part of this forum.
