A tad late, but have a collection of Christmas DTS CD's I've collected over the years on actual burnt CD discs.
When I realized how many I was collecting, I starting to just store them on a large media server and use PC playback software.

Now I want to get the hard copy CD 'ripped' back to a file format.

What should I be creating and how?

I've tried ISO, BIN/CUE and WAV/CUE using all sorts of EAC, IMGBURN, ISOBUSTER, MAGICISO.
And every time I try them in VLC 1.1.5 the player crashes.
When I play some stuff off the server from a long time ago, they play just fine.
Also the CD plays just fine in PowerDVD.

I've looked at the CUE files and they seem OK.
Maybe the internal structure of the DTS WAV's are corrupt or something.
But when I play them in WMP or MPC-HC, I get the nice expected hiss with no crashes.

I know I just had a recent birthday, but I didn't expect to loose as much knowledge as it seems I have.

I'm sure its something real simple, but a little direction is appreciated.

D.D.

I haven't checked, Foobar is on my HTPC, not my ripping/production ,machine.

Since we know that VLC works just fine with TB of other WAV/CUE's, it's a case of figuring out what I need to do to get these disc loaded back onto the file server.

When I make an ISO of the disc, and mount it, it's unreadable and the same if examined by winrar.
I would think that if it's possible to get a good ISO and mount it, it should play in PowerDVD just like the physical disk plays.
Or a good WAV/CUE will launch nicely from VLC on the CUE file.

Maybe the headers got corrupted?

It should be a straight forward process in EAC, but then again, that goes for a lot of things that somehow don't work as expected too...

What you could try is to rip the individual tracks in EAC and then merge them together to one long wav again with AudioMuxer. You will also have to make a cue file in EAC.

If you have the DTS-HD StreamPlayer it is a simple case of loading the ripped .WAV file into the playlist & decoding it from there.
Very fast, very easy.
