Hey,

I was just wondering if anyone can recommend any free software that can do the job of Plogue in turning stereo files into 5.1 channels. I just can't afford Plogue at the moment. Thanks

Well I'm always on the lookout for alternatives but so far nothing has come along that can do the time to freq. domain and back again conversions that SPEC needs.

We've worked hard to keep the costs as low as possible, finding the best free mastering VSTs, lowest cost dts encoder, lowest costs sound cards etc., but there is still a minimum cost to get the job done.

Plogue.com typically has a 3 month demo period with each new version, but that has expired with the current version. But you could keep an eye out for when the next version is released.

Thanks for the reply, I wouldn't mind buying a copy but I'll look out for the next release, hopefully soon.

If there was someone with some knowledge as to VST creation, we'd be all ears.

Actually, not so much VST Creation (I know how to do that) but more an expert on realtime FFT or Wavelet code in C++.
