Looks like you are confusing VSTs and Plugins.

The 4.2 installer should put Spec 4.2.dll and zag 1.7.1.dll in your plugins folder, and you should be putting peakcomp2mono.dll and reaplugs in your VSTPlugins folder.

The other spec related dll files you have (lsice, cc, etc.) are from SPEC 4.0. You don't need those anymore but they are also "plugins" vs. VSTs.

Hope that's clear.

You can also tell where things go by looking at the folders they are in in the downloaded and unrar'ed SPEC install.

Stuff in "plugins" goes in "plugins".

Another common problem people have is installing the 64 bit standalone alone version of Plogue. EVEN if you have a 64 bit version of Windows you STILL need to use the 32 bit version of Plogue.

PS, check out the new video guides:

http://www.surroundbyus.com/sbu/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=164

where I go through all the gory details of Plogue and the various windows OS file systems. Vista is the same as Win7 so you should watch the 1st video, and you can skip the second one on XP.

Great news.

Can you give us more details on "The installer did not work"? We want to make this as easy as possible for folks.

Thanks,
Z

I'm not sure where to go here but the installer came up in dos ,requested location of plogue, I typed c (enter), dos window closed , I went to look for spec and could not find it, however at first I did not know how to open the spec bidule, I assumed it would show up in the menu tree on the left, or as a right click on the main screen, but the plugins were not anywhere either, however I did forget about the step involving making a plugins folder first. until you said something. I thought the plogue vstplugins was the plugins folder and the c:vstplugins folder was the vstplugins folder, if that makes any sense.

It wanted "c:" vs. "c".

I'll see if I can make it more obvious (as to success or failure). The DOS window shouldn't have closed until you told it to.
