Post subject:  Problem with adjusting SpecWeb

I have tried three albums Aha- High And Low, Propaganda - 1234 and Alphaville - Best Of.

I have tried the default settings for ArcTan and for Slice and the reult is too much is happeining in the surround channels (7.1)

I tried to adjust the ArcTan to the settings in the topic https://www.surroundbyus.com/sbu/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=221&hilit=arctan+setting , but then nothing happens.

Any suggestions where to begin?

OK, now I made a new attempt and it sounds actually much better, I don't know if something went wrong before.
I uses Slice with default settings.

Tried a Swedish album by Ratata and it sounds great!

I think people initially like Slice and then over time prefer ArcTan, but we also have the combination of ArcTan fronts and Slice (blended) rears.

The other thing to improve sound would be in upsample your source material first, use SpecWeb, and then downsample to your desired bit rate.

E.g. if your album is 44.1Khz 16 bits upsample to 88.2 Khz 24 bits before using SpecWeb. AudioMuxer is one tool that can do that for you, and on the quadrophonicquad site, there is a SpecWeb helper app that automates the whole process.

Hard to say what went wrong the first time, but we're here to help.
