There are audio plugins and tools in various packages to process "old" recordings and vinyl rips. Sound Forge has one. You could also look at KVR audio for audio restoration VSTs. |

I recently read a piece from one of the prominent vinyl rippers out there as to utilizing Izotope De-Clicker as both a tool for cleaning up vinyl as well as adding some dynamic range back to overcompressed recordings. May be worth a shot. As for use with surround, I am not a big believer in "cleaning up" sources prior to conversion. I think we probably cause more hurt than help. I'd rather spend my time finding the best possible source for a particular album before converting. |
