hello gents,
having a problem installing on another computer and can't figure it out, any ideas would be welcomed. Installed latest plogue, installed latest spec, installed both rec. vstplugins, changed preferences in plogue, vst plugins show up fine, when the three spec dll files are in the plogue plugins folder it crashes immediatly. If I pull them out of the plugins folder it opens fine but obviously red boxes for spec. this is windows xp w microsoft visual 2008,
I think there must be a conflict w spec somewhere in my system, because plogue runs fine until spec is in the plugins folder. any known conflicts? or any ideas would be welcomed.
sincerely, kevin

Please make sure your Plogue preferences are set to not process at startup.

Please make sure you have installed the required C++ runtime from microsoft. You mentioned visual studio 2008, but not which one. In any case you need C++ runtime, either that comes with visual studio C++ or separately if you don't have visual studio C++.

If you still have a problem, look in the bidule.log file (In XP it should just be in your Plogue folder - from memory. The Video guides, under general techniques, will spell it out exactly) and that should give some clue as to what is going on.

Also please let me know what processor type is in your XP box.

SPEC requires SSE2 capability have there have been one or two people with very old AMD processors that couldn't run SPEC.

Hello, greetings to everyone. I have a problem with SPEC.

I have a dual core Intel E2180, 2 gb ram, 500 gb sata hd with windows xp sp3 .... and 0.9705 Plogue standard. and I work well, for example:
1 .- spam environment and my movements are too slow.

2 .- takes for each 1 minute of audio to 3 minutes to process it, ie, an audio CD takes 45 minutes to 2 hours to make.
3 .- It covers all my system resources

And Went Looking for patches and everything and anything else not working properly ..

But other than that the truth is the best I have tried for converting THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND PROGRAM.

GOD Bless

choquito2, I think that the fact you only have 2Gb of RAM may be the problem. For Plogue only uses one core and since you have two (if that's a real dual-core processor and not one of the older one's with hyper-thread only) there should be one left for doing other tasks while plogue does it's work.

But yes, processing can take a long time, specially for high resolution files 88.2 and above.

hello Z and fan51,
thanks for looking at this, I am running an AMD athelon version 2002 xp sp3 3000+,. 1.43G ram x-86, family 6 model 10, stepping 0 . 2.17ghz
running microsoft 2008 C++ redistributable x86 9.0.30729.17.
I am not sure how to determine if it is SSE 2 capable?
following is the end of the plogue logfile where everything just crashes

0:3824:115825624:attempting to load : C:\Program Files\Plogue\Bidule\plugins\Printf 1.0.dll
I:0x 0:3824:115825640:before queriying numBidules
I:0x 0:3824:115825640:there is 1 bidules
I:0x 0:3824:115825640:before filling info : 0
I:0x 0:3824:115825640:back from filling info : 0
I:0x 0:3824:115825640:attempting to load : C:\Program Files\Plogue\Bidule\plugins\Spec 4.6.dll
I:0x 0:3824:115825640:before queriying numBidules
I:0x 0:3824:115825640:there is 6 bidules
I:0x 0:3824:115825640:before filling info : 0

I am not sure how to interpret this if you have any ideas would be most appreciative, unless I just can't run it on this computer?

If printf and zag load, but spec doesn't, it is most likely the processor problem.

that particular processor has SEE, but not SEE2 instruction set.

I can try to compile a version that doesn't use SEE2, but cannot guarantee the the performance will sufficient for SPEC.

Any chance there will be a new computer (or Motherboard) under your xmas tree?

I will be adding this to the requirements list for SPEC.

CPU with SSE2 (or higher) instruction set.

E.G.

Supported CPUs (or newer):

AMD K8-based CPUs (Athlon 64, Sempron 64, Turion 64, etc)

Intel NetBurst-based CPUs (Pentium 4, Xeon, Celeron, Celeron D, etc)

Intel Pentium M and Celeron M

Intel Core-based CPUs (Core Duo, Core Solo, etc)

Intel Core 2-based CPUs (Core 2 Duo, Core 2 Quad, etc)

Not supported:

AMD CPUs prior to Athlon 64, including all Socket A-based CPUs
Intel CPUs prior to Pentium 4
Via C3
Transmeta Crusoe

Well thank you for your time Z that explains why it won't run on this computer. I thought it was something I was doing wrong.
Unfortunatly no chance of a new computer here. this is my office computer, and well since I have so much fun with spec at home I thought I would have a little fun with it at the office in my down time but alas the fun has got to remain at home, maybe it's for the best.
again thank you for your assistance your program and you gentlemen are awesome.
sincerely, kevin
