I have a stereo wave source file. Want to break it down to 6 mono to convert to 5.1.Tried with SoX. Don't know any other software. Problems as below. 1) First unable to load SoX. Just flash & goes. 2) Tried to load in SoX in command prompt. Loading but not even recognize and load the wave source file. My system Win 10 64 bit. 3) If SoX is not right tool let someone give a way out. 4) Not clear whether SoX or my source file problem. 5) If required I can upload few minutes of my sample wav for someone to try out. |

Are you trying to upmix stereo to 5.1? I'm not clear what you ultimate goal is. |

If you are on Windows 10 (or can run Windows 10 in a VM or Parallels), the easiest solution is to get SpecWeb from this site: http://www.surroundbyus.com/sbu/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=913 It is free and drag and drop easy. Drag one or more (lossless please) stereo file onto the icon, press enter to accept the defaults, and it will create a 6 channel flac or your song, upmixed to 5.1 as you mention. Many people use it just that way, but there are also very deep controls that can be used to optimize the upmix for your taste, listening room, and each song. |

Where did you put the SpecWeb folder? It doesn't need to/shouldn't be in c:\Program Files etc. I ask because it sounds like you put it somewhere where your normal user account doesn't have permission to write. To post screen shots here use the "Full Editor" vs. "Quick Reply" and attach them. |
