The early bird Plogue license (what we all have if we bought a license) should let you upgrade without a problem.
http://www.plogue.com/bidule/latest/Anyway I just tried 4.85 on .9722P2 and .9719P2 and didn't get any red boxes so it may work on .9721P2. You're welcome to try it. I don't have a copy of .9721 anymore.
One issue is that the newer versions of Spec use the "Standalone discrete processing test version" or "P2" version of Plogue and 4.6 didn't, so you may not have the P2 version of .9721. If you have it it would be called "PlogueBiduleP2.exe".
You would have to install Spec by hand. In the unziped Spec 4.85 Zag 3.0 Release folder, copy everything in the layouts folder to your Plogue\Bidule\layouts folder.
everything in plugins to Plogue\Bidule\plugins
everything in VSTs to Plogue\Bidule\VSTPugins
everything in EXEs to Plogue\Bidule
